Uganda Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance
The Uganda NCD Alliance (UNCDA) was founded by the Uganda Diabetes Association, Uganda Heart-Research Foundation and the Uganda Cancer Society in 2010, in partnership with the Danish NCD Alliance with funding from the Danish International Development Agency. Current membership includes NCD patient associations.
Kenya NCD Alliance (NCDAK)
NCDAK was established in 2011. The leading member organisations include The Kenya Cardiac Society (KCS), Kenyan Heart-National Foundation, Diabetes Management & Information Centre (DMIC), Kenya Diabetes Association (KDA), Kenya Society for Haemato-Oncology (KESHO), Kenya Association for prevention of Tuberculosis & Lung diseases (KAPTLD), The Neurological Society of Kenya, Rheumatological Society of Kenya and Consortium for NCD Prevention and Control in sub-Saharan Africa (CNCD-Africa).
Zanzibar NCD Alliance:
Was established in 2013 with support from DNCDA by the Zanzibar Diabetes Association and the Zanzibar Cancer Association while Zanzibar Heart Association joined in 2014. The aim of Z-NCDA is to improve the welfare of people living with common NCDs namely diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases and promote its prevention to the general public in Zanzibar.
Tanzania NCD Alliance (TANCDA)
Tanzania Non-communicable Diseases Alliance (TANCDA) was established in 2012 with the primary purpose of being a lead advocate and actor in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Tanzania.
Rwanda NCD Alliance (RNCDA)
The RNCDA was established in 2014 as a result of the East African NCD Alliance Post 2015 Initiative as an alliance between Rwanda Diabetes Association, Cardiac Patients Network and Rwanda Heart Foundation. However current membership includes several other NCD organisations such as Breast Cancer Initiative East Africa, Conquer Brest Cancer Association, Rwanda Pharmacy Students’ Association and Team Heart-University of Rwanda.
Burundi NCD Alliance (BNCDA)
BNCDA was created in November 2014 comprising Burundi Diabetes Associations, Burundi Asthma association and Burundi Cancer Association. The Alliance’s objectives include promotion of public awareness about prevention of NCDs, advocacy and lobbying for political initiatives, fundraising and community activities for NCDs prevention and control.
